At a local wat (temple), a worker is skimming off the impurities from the molten metal he will be using shortly to pour into a mold for casting a new idol. They cast 16 new idols that will be dedicated at a ceremony in January. On this night, the celebration lasted late into the night. People purchased bars of metal that were spray painted to look like gold. They then wrote their names on the blocks and stacked them to be melted down. What caught my eye was the contrast in colors between the smoke of the impurities and the more pure metal.
