St. Francis Xavier’s Catholic Church

Now surrounded by highways and highly trafficked downtown roads, St. Francis Xavier’s Catholic Church was built in 1933 by a Goan immigrant. Kenyan Goans were from Goa, which was a Portuguese province for 450 years until 1961 when it was annexed by India. Goans in Kenya were segregated and thus had to build their own church building in which to worship.
