One of Ghana’s remaining six mud mosques, the Bole mosque is an example of the Sudanic style of Sudano-Sahelian architecture. It is located near the center of Bole in the Bole District of Ghana’s Northern Region. Oral tradition puts the construction of the mosque in the 18th century, however historical events and recent radiocarbon dating suggest the current structure was built in the early 20th century.
