Historic Artifacts

Pottery and other artifacts are stored in a warehouse in Pompeii, Italy. The volcanic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius buried the town in AD 79. Archaeological work in Pompeii has given us cultural insights into its first-century culture. Through plaster casts of the dead and the instantaneously preserved homes, businesses, temples, and streets, we have learned much about daily life in the Roman Empire in the New Testament era.
