Two elderly men prepare to participate in the Feast of St. Paul’s Shipwreck festival in Malta. Held every year in the capital city of Valletta, this public holiday commemorates the shipwreck of the apostle Paul in Malta in AD 60. This led to Malta’s conversion to Christianity from paganism. During Paul’s journey toward his trial in Rome, a storm took place at sea which led to the shipwreck on what is known today as St Paul’s Bay, where Paul and his ship’s crew crashed when they reached Malta.
