Project Overview

Sub-Saharan Africa is home to the world’s fastest-growing cities, largest youth population, fastest growing Muslim population — and the largest concentration of Christians on the planet. The challenge we face is false teachings have swayed many Africans. For example, a missionary here was shocked to see Jehovah’s Witness literature in the home of an African pastor. The pastor told him it was the only “Christian” literature he could find.  Sadly, throughout Sub-Saharan Africa, it is difficult to find biblically sound teachings in print, online, or from the pulpit. Many Africans see God as a genie in the sky who grants health and prosperity to those who pray hard and put money in the offering plate. Churches often preach rules-based religion or misinterpretations of verses like “Ask and you will receive.” The result is a skewed version of Christianity with little understanding of the gospel. But if African believers are discipled and equipped, they could become a powerful missionary force. IMB missionaries have a vision of African churches sending African missionaries to the ends of the earth, and African believers are ready to embrace their role in the Great Commission! Our team’s goal is to provide biblically sound, engaging resources that help Africans understand the gospel, grow deep in their walk with Christ, establish healthy churches, and share their faith with others.
