About This Project
Children of missionaries are often called TCKs (Third Culture Kids) because they live in a culture different than their “home” culture (i.e., their passport country) but also no longer fully identify with that home culture. They live “in between” cultures in a third culture that combines cultural influences.
The TCKs in Sub-Saharan Africa often live in remote places and have little community with like-minded youth. Having an opportunity to gather with other TCKs who understand their third culture and the feeling of living “in-between,” is vital to TCKs’ spiritual, emotional, and even physical health. Your partnership is critical in offering an annual camp experience for them in Sub-Saharan Africa, where they can fellowship, grow in their relationship with Christ, and learn to be part of the Great Commission alongside their parents.
This week of camp is fun and deeply meaningful for TCKs. They enjoy being with others their age who have similar experiences and struggles to grow in their love for the Lord and their identity in Christ together. They hear what God is doing in their friends’ lives, drink deep from daily teaching in God’s Word, and participate in corporate worship in English, which most of them do not experience very often. The TCK camp experience is a highlight of the year for these children. It adds to their family’s overall health and ability to thrive in their missionary calling, impacting lostness across Sub-Saharan Africa with the gospel.
Prayerfully consider giving to offset the cost of these camps so that money is not a limiting factor in any child’s participation or the ability to offer camp each year. Each family contributes financially toward their children’s camp experience, but the total cost of the camp and transportation is more than most families can afford. Your gift ensures that all families can send their TCKs to camp.
Why direct giving matters
Giving directly to a missionary team helps fund the specific, on-the-ground needs your missionaries care deeply about—needs that aren't covered by CP and LMCO alone.
Emma* is a Third Culture Kid (TCK) who struggles to interact socially. She’s quiet around her peers and tends to play alone more than with others.
But that changed when Emma joined more than one hundred TCKs at camp. She was there because of your generosity to this ministry!
While initially she struggled to come out of her shell, Emma soon found friends and experienced true community with kids who understood the challenges she faces.
As an adolescent TCK, Mason* strives to follow Jesus personally. For much of his life, he has relied on his parents and their walk with God. Now, because of TCK camp, he understands the importance of having a daily quiet time.
These are just two of the lives impacted by TCK Camp this year. They spent a week away from their parents’ places of ministry.
Together, these kids spent time with the Lord, each other, and volunteers who came to pour into them with time, fun, and attention.
Each of these students is a precious gift from God, who would not experience the joy and learning of youth camp without your sacrificial giving.
We have seen God keep families on the field and restore healthy communication within families because of the work He did in the hearts of TCKs during camp.
Thank you for making TCK Camp possible through your gifts!
Please join us in prayer:
Thank you for impacting lostness by helping missionary families thrive on the field as a direct result of TCK Camp each year.
