“Fire! Fire!” yelled Atih’s mom. Her husband’s hands, feet, and legs were burned as he was changing the propane gas tank. At first, Atih could not reach her mom by phone because the phone also burned in the fire. Atih lives on the other side of the country, so she tried to get news via live stream. Maybe her mom’s neighbors had posted on social media, but still no success. She went to her room and prayed to God. Eventually, Atih’s aunt called so Atih could talk to her mom. Atih’s stepdad was hospitalized to receive treatment for his burns. Remember praying for Atih and her mom earlier this year? Atih had shared the gospel with her mother, and Jesus has been making a difference in her mother’s life, especially in this recent tragedy. Her mom was not crying or complaining but was joyful and peaceful when Atih talked to her by phone. “What can I do to help mom?” “I need a phone.” Atih’s mom and stepdad lost their house and business to a fire and they are not bitter or mad at God. Thankfully, the government has provided a mattress. Other friends and family have helped them, as well. Pray they continue to hold fast to Jesus.
