The Batahin people live along the Nile River in the central part of Sudan. As herdsmen, they especially value their cattle, while also raising goats, sheep, and camels. They benefit from selling milk and milk products. Islam is central to the Batahin people of Sudan. They faithfully say their creed, pray, give to the poor, and keep the month of fasting. Those who can afford it go on the pilgrimage to Mecca. The Batahin hope that they will be shown mercy. Pray for this population of 338,000 to hear news of Jesus, who said: “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep” (John 10:11 ESV). Ask for them to believe and follow the Good Shepherd. Pray for the gospel to become central to the culture and beliefs of the Batahin people, and pray for the church to be established among them.
