(KAH-vuh-ree) – Mahavir Jayanti is a festival that celebrates the birthday of Mahavira, the founder of Jainism. This year, the holiday falls on April 10. Jains use this day as an observation of peace, harmony, and the teachings of Jainism. Similar to Hinduism, the Jain religion originated long ago in India. Jains believe in nonviolence, the belief that all living things are equal, reincarnation, and karma. Pray for Jains on this day to know that “the LORD is the true God; he is the living God and the everlasting King” (Jeremiah 10:10 ESV).
