(tee-more LESS-tay) – Amy is an Indonesian woman who married a man from Timor-Leste (neighboring country, recently split from Indonesia), and they live in Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste. Amy came to faith in Jesus Christ a few years ago, and then in 2025 her husband, Gus, heard the Good News from a team of national gospel-workers from Indonesia who came to Timor-Leste, and he repented and chose to follow Christ. This couple wanted to begin hosting worship and Bible study in their home, but then Gus became ill. The local witch doctor offered mantras and “blessed” water for Gus to drink for healing, but Amy and Gus refused to take the witch doctor’s “medicine.” Gus passed away on December 22, 2025, and now the extended family is trying to deter Amy from continuing to follow Christ. First, we praise the Lord that Gus had an opportunity to come to faith before his death. Second, we pray for his widow, Amy, that she would remain strong in her faith, despite pressure to return to the syncretism of a works-heavy faith mixed with witch doctor practices. Please pray that a house church does come to fruition in Amy’s home, and she would deeply and richly know Christ personally as her Savior.
