This week, IMB missionaries prayerwalked in Odaiba, an artificial island in Tokyo Bay, Japan.
Odaiba has the highest concentration of Olympic events. IMB missionary Carlton Walker said they prayed the Olympics would provide opportunities for Japanese people to encounter Christ.
Walker and IMB missionaries greeted people as they walked and passed out crayons and Olympic stickers to children. They also passed out Christian Olympic material that included the story of Olympian and missionary Eric Liddell.
As they walked down the road that leads to Tokyo Bay, Josiah Oldham and Hiromi Price prayed Japanese people would be open to hearing the gospel during the Olympics.
During their prayer walk, Walker and fellow IMB missionary Scott Bradford shared with a young family.
A replica of the Statue of Liberty overlooks Tokyo Bay and the Olympics rings. The statue is a tribute to Japan’s ties to France. French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi designed the Statue of Liberty. There are two other statues of Lady Liberty in Japan.
Julie Bradford, an IMB missionary in Tokyo, poses in front of the Statue of Liberty.
Pray Odaiba would become an island of hope and light as people hear, and continue to hear, the gospel from IMB missionaries.
