Pray for the Manga Kanuri of Nigeria
The Manga Kanuri of Nigeria can be found in the northeast portion of the country. This area faces great insecurity and much terrorist activity by Boko Haram.
The Manga Kanuri number around 378,000 and are part of the larger Kanuri group (population 7,860,200), which can be found in both Niger and Nigeria. Among the Kanuri, Islam is the main religion, but there are a few Christians. Long-standing Christian work among this group, including Bible translations and medical work, has produced few results.
Prayer Requests
- Pray for peace to be restored to the villages and towns of the Kanuri region. Pray for opportunities for humanitarian assistance to open the door for the gospel, as many of the people have been displaced and are living in IDP camps.
- Pray for the Christians living in this area of Nigeria as they face persecution. Ask the Lord to protect and strengthen them in their faith so that they may be a witness among the Kanuri.
- Pray for the light of the gospel message to shine in the land of the Kanuri people. Pray that doors would be open for Christians to be able to bring the good news to this area.
