About This Project
Just as the Gutenberg printing press revolutionized the world by converting hand-written Scripture into print for the masses, Gutenberg II (GII) is revolutionizing the way the world’s Muslim population learns about and responds to God’s message of reconciliation, redemption, and relationship through Jesus. The overwhelming majority of Muslims have never heard the gospel in a way they can understand, embrace and respond to. Your gift will propel the gospel into the Muslim world with renewed power.
GII God’s Stories Series consists of nine uniquely selected Old and New Testament character stories. Each story is designed to address bridges and barriers to the gospel in a Muslim worldview, brought to the audience in a natural dramatized story flow. They all crescendo into the telling of the story of Jesus as told by Luke. The Savior film, now dubbed into many languages, has been broadcast on popular secular and Christian satellite stations across the Muslim world, reaching into places that have never seen or heard the message of Jesus as acted, directed and shared by professional Arab actors in Arabic and many other languages.
These films are distributed via satellite, television, Video on Demand, DVD, cell phones, Apps and through personal contact with Christians. The local Middle Eastern sense and feel of The Savior is causing it to be a choice ministry tool for many working among Muslims. These films have already been viewed by people in the multiple 10’s of millions across the Muslim world. GII stories are changing the conversation among leaders of nations and faith, of cities and towns, and of families and individuals. Your gift will make it possible to bring these stories to new places, in new languages and with new creative tools.
Please join us in prayer:
Spring Gospel Sowing. Since Easter of April 2015, The Savior film has been broadcast in multiple languages and across the globe every Easter and Christmastime, being viewed multiple times during these seasons.
However, 2023 is a bit different! All the Old Testament stories—including Adam and Eve, Noah, the Patriarchs, Joseph, Moses, Samuel, David, and Elijah—will be aired in several different versions. Thanks to your generosity, we are also adding the story of David. So now, our Old Testament set is complete. In addition, we are airing The Savior.
At no time in the history of broadcasting has so much of the Bible been available in Arabic—produced, acted, and directed by native speakers! God’s Word is arriving in homes other digital media and the hearts of the millions who view it. We know that these broadcasts reach day laborers, professionals, families, and even leaders of nations! So many gospel seeds have been sown into hearts (Luke 8:4-15) that GII’s original vision of broad sowing the Word of God in NAME and beyond is actually being fulfilled.
Ukraine. The Savior distribution team in Eastern Europe carefully planned a dangerous but highly anticipated delivery of hundreds of The Savior comics (and The Savior animated films) in Ukrainian to recently orphaned kids cared for by believers. As the shipment left the office and began its journey, we prayed steadily for the driver, his route, and the waiting little hands at the other end. It took a couple of weeks to accomplish, but they did arrive. The joy on the little faces touched our hearts!
Additionally, The Savior comics and animated films went to children from immigrant families and children who attend youth groups and Sunday School clubs. They also went to a group of about 50 children from non-churched families.
Pray the millions of gospel seeds planted by The Savior film and Old Testament stories will take root, grow deep, and bear the fruit God intended when He started the GII Project over 25 years ago.Thank you for your generosity and prayers. Your sacrificial gifts and intercession truly transform lives as we partner together to solve the world’s greatest problem, lostness.
Your gifts have enabled us to continue fulfilling the Great Commission. You all are very much appreciated, and we pray often for you!
Broadcast Journey
Preparing and updating the GII Old Testament stories (Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac/Jacob, Joseph, through to Moses, Samuel, David and Elijah) has been challenging. Yet through each difficulty, we have seen the hand of God meet needs and solve problems. In fact, we finished this nine-month journey with just two hours to spare.
Good Friday Broadcasts on April 22
An Arabic-language network broadcast each story, one after the other, up through The Savior story on the first day of the contracted time. They showed GII Bible story materials in Arabic for about 26 hours straight, airing the series twice globally.
As a point of reference, broadcasting the biblical stories in Arabic has never occurred on this scale in the history of television or satellite broadcasting. God has done an amazing thing to show and share Himself among those who have not heard!
Small Indication on Viewers
The Lord allowed us a small glimpse into the effectiveness of the presentation when we received a screenshot of a streaming website that showed The Savior. The number at that moment showed 24.9 million viewers online watching the film. This number represents just one area of viewership. It is not cumulative viewers but the number of live streams at a specific point in time.
We have no idea about the big picture of overall viewership or the network’s response. While it is too early to assess specific numbers, we believe it has gone well, fully as the Lord intended.
After the initial GII broadcast flood on April 22, the network continued to show stories throughout the week—one story aired twice daily—until the Night of Power on April 28.
Broadcasts during Islamic Night of Power
The Arabic-language network broadcast select episodes during the evening of April 28 and overnight. They chose to air the stories of Moses, The Savior (at midnight, the crucial point of the Night of Power), and then The Sin (creation, Adam & Eve). Amazing what they chose!
During the broadcasts, our film director heard from many people who had not contacted the distribution team in years. “We saw these new stories you have broadcast. Congratulations, they are wonderful.”
Other Broadcasts during Easter
Overall, during Easter 2022, 31 TV/satellite stations (Christian, secular or Islamic) broadcast the complete set of GII Bible stories, a combination of the stories and The Savior, or The Savior alone.
Pray for GII
Over the last nine months, our call for prayer has focused on the audience, that those who encounter the broadcasts would respond to its message. We ask you to continue to pray that God’s Word will break yokes, set captives free, and open eyes. Ask for His Spirit to be poured out into lives.
We trust that God’s Word will accomplish what it has been sent to do and will not come back empty. We have been encouraged to ask BIG in faith before the Lord (Is. 55:11). Along with you, we seek to share Christ and build His Kingdom.
Thank you for your prayers and partnership. God is being glorified across the Arab world like the waters cover the sea (Hab. 2:14). Praise His glorious name!
Many people in the Bible were doing ordinary, everyday things when God called them to serve Him in a special way. Is God calling you? Could He be leading you to serve Him among the peoples of Northern Africa and the Middle East? View the video.
