Leticia Herrera Clark, an International Mission Board missionary emeritus who shared the gospel in Uruguay, Nepal, the U.K. and Argentina, died Dec. 18, 2025. She was 63.
Leticia was born Sept. 10, 1962, in Zapala, Neuquen, Argentina, to Arnoldo Herrera and Noemi Pereira Herrera. She graduated from Seminario Internacional Teológico Bautista in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and received the Master of Church Music from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, New Orleans, Louisiana.
After high school, Leticia spent two years studying music and working in the music ministry at her home church. In 1983, she went to Buenos Aires to study at the Seminario Internacional Teológico Bautista. That same year, she met Stanley Clark. They were married on December 17, 1983, in Cipolletti, Argentina. After her graduation, Stanley and Leticia moved to the United States, where Leticia studied church music at New Orleans Baptist Seminary. In August 1987, they went to Glorieta for Foreign Missions Week and felt God’s call to missions.
While seeking missionary appointment, Leticia wrote, “I felt the Lord’s calling to special service when I was 13 years old during a message given for women based on Isaiah 6. … In my church I heard stories about the lives of missionary women, which inspired my young soul. The Lord gave me a special love for music and a special desire to use it in the church.”
In 1990, the International Mission Board appointed Stanley and Leticia missionaries to Uruguay. Leticia worked with local churches to develop their worship ministries, served as a voice and piano instructor, gave music ministry solos and recorded background vocals. She directed the choir at a local college, taught women’s Bible studies and went door-to-door sharing the gospel with Stanley. She also worked at retreats for the elderly and adolescents. Later, she was appointed professor of music at a local Baptist seminary. Stanley and Leticia served briefly in Nepal before moving to Argentina, where Leticia engaged in evangelistic activities related to music. They also served in the U.K. working with Latin American peoples.
Leticia is survived by her husband of 42 years, Stanley Clark; her children, Laura, William, and Abigail; and three grandchildren, Isabella, Olivia, and Sebastian.
A funeral service was held Dec. 20 in the city of Córdoba, Argentina.
