Go for a week, go for a year, go for life.
For over 180 years, IMB has been committed to bringing the gospel to the nations with biblical faithfulness, global strategy, and unwavering support for those who go. These distinctives shape everything we do.
Southern Baptists do missions “together.” That’s our legacy. It’s not just your church sending you, but thousands of churches — big and small — pooling their resources to send and sustain missionaries like you. Through this generous giving, IMB provides salary, medical benefits, financial & tax support, housing, and visa support.
Our missionaries find and engage the lost. Close to 59% of the world today has no meaningful access to the gospel. That’s why we can’t wait. We want to partner with you to make sure the gospel reaches every nation.
We believe missions is rooted in Scripture, from why we go to how we serve. That foundation matters not just for missionaries, but for the churches who send and support them. When everyone is anchored in God’s Word, the work becomes clearer, healthier, and multiplies.
Serving with us is rooted in the local church. You’ll partner with churches passionate about reaching the nations, and their support goes with you long term. The journey isn’t easy, but you’ll be sent, supported, and never alone.

Use your gifts, skills, and experiences to help make the gospel known among the nations. From ministry and healthcare to education and support roles, there are many ways to serve with IMB around the world.
Whether you’re just beginning to explore or ready to take the next step, IMB will guide you through the process of preparing for missionary service and serving overseas. From discerning your calling to being sent to the nations, each step is designed to help you move forward with clarity, support, and purpose.
Learn what it means to serve as a missionary and see if it’s the right next step for you. You’ll talk with an IMB consultant, reflect on your readiness, and involve your church as you pray and prepare.
Complete the IMB application and walk through medical, background, and family steps. You’ll also take part in an in-person interview where IMB gets to know you better and helps confirm your fit.
Work with IMB to find a place and role where you can serve. Once approved, you’ll receive final training and be sent out to share the gospel and make disciples.
We’ll help you prepare for the mission. Preparing for short-term trips can be tricky. So IMB offers online training specifically for trips and trip leaders. Check out our resources here.
