(KAYP town) – Lakeview Community Church, a body of about 400 members, has been an evangelical presence in the Retreat community, a suburb of Cape Town, for 25 years. The church is busy with over 20 ministries, including a weekly soup feeding and gospel-centered addiction rehabilitation program, serving an area infested with gangsterism, addiction, and broken families. Because of this, members pray against drug deals and gangsterism that promise a better life to young men. Missionary apprentices Jason and Nicole Zaruba recently began a sports ministry through soccer to engage the next generation and their families. At season’s end, they saw many of the non-Lakeview children (some were even Muslim) and the parents show up for the Sunday morning service to receive their medals. Please pray for the ministry of Lakeview Community Church to its neighbors, which are many. Pray for church leadership to have a vision of getting the gospel further into the Retreat, Steenberg, and Lavender Hill communities, and also for them to be committed to making disciples of those believers. Pray for the youth and children to grow into disciples who are making disciples.
