Black Church Missions

View Resources

Black churches are increasing in number within the Southern Baptist Convention, and they are pivotal in the fulfillment of IMB’s Revelation 7:9 vision. Black Church Missions celebrates missionaries of African descent and points toward pathways to become active partners with IMB’s work around the globe making disciples of all peoples in obedience to the Great Commission.

We join in the Revelation 7:9 vision with a multitude from every nation, tribe, people and language in taking the good news of Jesus to every corner of the earth.

EVENT
GEORGE LIELE CHURCH PLANTING, EVANGELISM, AND MISSIONS SUNDAY

Southern Baptists dedicate the first Sunday in February to celebrate the work and leadership of African American and Black pioneers such as George Liele, who many acknowledge as the first overseas missionary from the United States in 1782.

The IMB has created helpful resources for planning your church's recognition of this special Sunday.
