The Afar people live in a rugged, desert region of Africa. They are known for being fierce, yet very hospitable, and they have a strong Muslim identity. Their predominantly non-literate culture and remote geographic location insulate them from exposure to God’s Word. It is difficult to share the gospel and make disciples in this environment.
But God’s Spirit is moving across the region, and many are hearing the gospel via radio broadcasts, internet videos, Bible recordings, and face-to-face conversations. Many are becoming open to God’s truth, and some are choosing to follow Jesus! New believers require consistent discipleship to deepen their faith, and additional training is necessary to foster further kingdom growth among the Afar.
Your support of our ministries contributes to the creation and distribution of digital Bible resources in the Afar language. Your gift enables team members and national partners to train believers and develop healthy churches that minister to their communities and other unreached people. Your generosity empowers further evangelism, expanding God’s kingdom into unreached regions!

Afar Pastoral Development
The growing number of believers among the Afar need the opportunity to grow in their faith and be empowered to live their new life in Jesus. Your gift will empower trainers to travel across the Afar region providing evangelism and discipleship training to small groups of men and women. You can help equip these Afar believers to share what Christ has done for them and lead others to faith.
Gospel-Centered Radio
The Afar Radio program broadcasts evangelistic radio daily to Afar peoples. Though they live in some of the most rugged terrain in the world, which is difficult to travel physically, via radio the light of God’s Word can be broadcast to all who would hear. Your gifts will help produce and air programs that proclaim God’s Word across the Afar Triangle.
Media Distribution
Join us in spreading the gospel to people across the Afar Triangle using social, digital, and online media. We create and distribute Scripture-based media so that more can hear the Word of God and come to trust in Jesus. You can help us to connect with people we would never otherwise meet in person by funding ad campaigns, training for local believers to do follow-up, and developing of Scripture resources to give to seekers.
Kâ* loves the Lord, but sometimes she feels alone in her walk with Christ, living among so many people who practice a different religion.
Because of the generosity of givers like you, she recently attended a gathering of more than 40 believers from her people group who live scattered across the area.
There, Kâ worshipped and studied God’s Word in her own language alongside other believers who faithfully follow Jesus Christ.
What encouragement Kâ found in learning and sharing about her faith with like-minded Christians. She returned home, strengthened in her spiritual walk and confident of God’s work in others’ hearts.
Your sacrificial gifts help equip Christian leaders like Kâ in sharing Jesus among the Afar. More than 400 pieces of Afar language media have been distributed, and more than 50 new gospel-centered radio programs have been produced.

Sabira* is a homebound Afar woman and a devout Muslim. While she speaks her language, she has never learned to read it.
Her neighbor Liya* is a believer. When they get together, Liya reads Bible verses aloud to Sabira from the newly created Afar Bible app you helped develop through your generosity to this ministry.
The two women pray, discuss God’s Word, and watch videos of Bible stories dubbed into Afar. “These are such sweet words,” Sabina says about the Bible.
Because of your faithful giving and prayers, Sabira has access to the gospel and God’s Word for the first time in her life. She is not yet a believer but is seriously considering Scripture and its meaning for her and her family.
Many Afar people are in similar situations: they are curious about the Bible but cannot read it for themselves.

Hearing the Word. Because of your partnership, God’s Word continually goes out, drawing more people into a saving relationship with Jesus. Shortwave radio delivers the Word through radio broadcasts which listeners tune in to nightly. We also distributed the programs via SD cards, so those interested can listen anytime. New believers and leaders of local fellowships are being trained to grow in the Word, stand firm in their faith, and share with others. More than 25 new believers have professed faith in Christ in the project area in the last 12 months because of your gifts. Praise God!
A Life Transformed. Little Fatuma* climbed into a vehicle with her family headed out-country. Her face lit up when she recognized the Afar worship song playing on the radio, and she immediately began singing along. Because of you, Fatuma and her family, as well as hundreds of other Afar, have access to worship songs, biblical stories, and audio recordings of Scripture.
