Reaching non-literate peoples with the gospel is a difficult task. Oral media, particularly radio, can have a significant impact on such peoples. The Afar people have heard the gospel for eight years through a Muslim-sensitive radio program which has shared the gospel through Chronological Bible Storying. Now some Afar are ready to believe. Your gift will create programs that help new believers grow in faith and join with others in worship and disciple-making.
Since the previous radio program ended, Afar believers continue to need sound, focused Bible teaching through oral media as they figure out how to live the life of faith together. This project will attempt to meet specific needs in the Afar outreach strategy to facilitate a church planting movement in the near future.
This radio ministry is an integral part of an overarching church planting strategy among the Afar and a great example of shared ministry between local believers and the western church which provides funding and technical expertise.
