Our team uses humanitarian aid to open the doors for spiritual aid, including evangelism, discipleship, trauma healing, and theological education. We collaborate with other like-minded organizations to make a larger impact for the kingdom of God among a diverse group of people who are desperate and seeking answers.
Your gifts will be used to develop safe, long-term camp complex for refugees and a bunkhouse for staff when they work at the camp. The complex will include hygienic bathrooms, outdoor kitchens, a community center, and a children’s playground. Your gifts will also cover the expenses for national pastors to minister at the camp throughout the year.

New Hope Trauma Healing
Since 2016, people from South Sudan and Sudan have fled their country due to war and unrest, and thousands have found refuge in Northern Uganda. Our team has opportunities to sit with them in groups and help them process the trauma and suffering they experienced through a biblical approach. Your gift will help us offer these groups, giving people hope through trauma healing.
Water Well Repairs
As with any machine, water wells break, rendering them useless and leaving people without access to clean water unless they can be repaired. As we repair these wells, we share Bible stories with those who gather around the well out of curiosity. Your generous gift enables our team to repair hand-pump water wells in the refugee settlement and bring living water to people who need to meet Jesus.
ESL-English as a Second Language
Join our work in teaching English to our people group through prayer and giving. Your gift will help reach people with the gospel through ESL by providing necessary resources as our people learn English and hear Bible stories at the same time.
Expanding the Gospel’s Reach
As we share the gospel, disciple new believers, nurture churches, and develop leaders, we travel a lot. We want to ensure everyone has access to the good news and the training they need to play their part in building God’s kingdom. Your gift helps fund fuel and public transportation costs for our team’s ministry so that as many people as possible can hear the gospel and learn what it means to follow Jesus faithfully.
Theological Education
Your gift will help us with teaching materials and travel in our ongoing ministry to teach and train church leaders. Theological Education by Extension (TEE) is a program that equips leaders and provides biblically based information to help them lead their churches well. We go to them with biblical education so they can stay in their towns/villages with their families, jobs, and ministries.
Soap Lab
Join us in our ministry, teaching refugee women soap-making skills, business practices, and the good news. Your gift will buy the necessary ingredients and equipment to teach the women how to make and sell soap and engage them in gospel conversations. Learning a marketable skill can help change financial stability in the home. Addressing this felt need opens up access for the gospel so the women hear about the God who loves and provides for them.

She was excited to see the movie. She stretched her neck in one direction, then leaned the other. Jood wanted to see the screen, and those in front of her were too tall.
Because of your generosity to this ministry, Jood, her family, and other South Sudanese and Sudanese refugees heard the story of Jesus in their own languages!
As the “JESUS” film unfolded, people softly chattered, discussing the story. Then, the audience erupted in applause and cheers when they saw the empty tomb and, later, when Jesus appeared after the resurrection.
Thank you for introducing Jesus to a group that has never heard the gospel. Jood’s village saw the film on the portable projection system givers like you provided.
Discipleship of believers is also critical to ministry here. The team disciples people to become disciple-makers, so the gospel is multiplied and goes to every corner of this region and wherever these refugees live.

Akello* joyfully ran to meet us as we arrived at the refugee settlement camp. Akello spied the bags of soccer balls, cones, and other sports equipment in our hands and anticipated an afternoon of fun and Bible stories. Growing up in a war-torn nation meant the only home 17-year-old Akello knew was a series of refugee camps. Little food, a mesh-walled tent, and a few hand-me-down clothes had led to feelings of loneliness, despair, and hopelessness. But now, Akello is making friends, thinking about the future, and thankful for God’s love. He is one of nearly 100 new followers of Jesus in this refugee camp!
Because of your generosity, our team engages refugees through sports ministry across multiple zones of the local refugee settlement. We play together and share the gospel, deliberately focusing on those under 20 who make up the largest refugee population here. Thank you for offering the hope of salvation to those who struggle to find meaning.
Recently, we have also started “Listening Groups” among refugee women here in the camp. We gather to listen to and discuss Scripture. For many, this is their first personal interaction with the Bible. They have heard of it from their religious leaders but have never encountered it personally. We know we can trust God’s promises: “So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11).

God is doing exciting things through our team. Because of your partnership, we have seen over 50 new followers of Jesus rescued from the kingdom of darkness and brought into the kingdom of light. To reach refugees, we are using several diverse strategies, including:
Sports ministry. Currently, we engage in sports ministry in multiple zones of the refugee settlement, working with national partners to share the gospel with the largest population of refugees, young people under the age of 20.Please join us in prayer.

“Our water-ministry crew can put in a new borehole in 5 to 7 days. Each day, crowds of 50-plus gather out of excitement and curiosity, enabling the water ministry crew to share Bible stories daily with those gathered.”
For five years, the Borderlands Team has worked among Sudanese and South Sudanese refugees who fled to Uganda after war and persecution erupted in their home countries. The Lord has been faithful to give our team the tools and means to offer physical and spiritual aid to these beautiful people.
The Lord enabled us to enter this hurting community to care for men, women and children who have experienced atrocities that no human should ever face. Because of your generosity, we have built houses for the disabled and drilled water wells for communities where people were walking more than three kilometers each way for clean water. Your gifts also delivered ministry tools such as New Hope Trauma Healing to these refugees.
While this project helps us meet practical needs, the gospel and essential biblical truths we share have brought hope and purpose to the hearts of those who came here broken. That is the joy of the gospel being displayed here on earth!
