About This Project
The 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo, Japan, will host 6,000 Deaf athletes, staff, officials, and referees from 70 to 80 countries and regions. Thousands more Deaf spectators will join them to cheer and witness their loved ones compete. Many of these athletes and spectators lack access to the gospel in their home countries, yet they are coming to a place where you can introduce them to the good news of Jesus Christ. Your gift will provide evangelism resources and cover other on-the-ground costs to effectively share the message with the thousands of Deaf people who are lost. Your support is vital! International Mission Board missionaries are prepared to engage the thousands arriving in the city for the Deaflympics. Your generosity will ensure IMB workers are present for the entire event, sharing the gospel with as many Deaf people as possible. Our ultimate goal is for Deaf individuals to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior and grow as disciples. Join your IMB missionaries in partnering with Japanese Deaf churches to help new believers connect and grow with local congregations. In addition to on-the-ground evangelism, your gifts will implement an online gospel-sharing strategy to reach thousands more people watching the events from their homes. You can take the gospel into their kitchens and living rooms by sponsoring online gospel ads. Through giving, God will use you as an instrument of grace to transform the lives of Deaf peoples. Join the mission and give today!
Why direct giving matters
Giving directly to a missionary team helps fund the specific, on-the-ground needs your missionaries care deeply about—needs that aren't covered by CP and LMCO alone.
As the 2025 Deaflympic Games in Tokyo draw near, we want to thank you for standing with our team in this extraordinary outreach opportunity.
You are already making a difference through your sacrificial gifts and prayers.
Because of your generosity,
Custom Deaflympics pins were created to spark gospel-centered conversations,Our team is partnering with seven Deaf churches in Japan who are committed to assisting in this outreach. Their involvement is a powerful answer to prayer!
In addition, we are coordinating with national partners across Africa, Europe, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. These believers are familiar with hundreds of sign languages.
As we complete the final preparations, we are securing meeting rooms for volunteer training, worship gatherings, and strategic planning—spaces that will serve as spiritual and logistical hubs during the games.
Thank you for helping engage the nearly 3,000 Deaflympic attendees with the gospel. Your partnership is fueling every step of this mission.
Please continue joining us in prayer:
Pray for wisdom as our team plans and works through logistics.Thank you for giving and praying so that every person who attends the 2025 Deaflympic Games in Tokyo has the opportunity to meet Jesus.
Preparations for the 2025 Deaflympic Games in Tokyo are well underway, and you are an essential member of this team!
In collaboration with Deaf believers in Japan and other volunteers who will participate in the Games, we designed a website to communicate the gospel in 10 distinct Sign Languages. We also created a trading pin to lead people to the website.
Thanks to your generosity, we have already purchased 400 pins and are now using them to share Jesus in Southeast Asia.
Mei* accepted Christ through conversations with a believer who shared a pin with her. She is now attending a weekly Bible study and growing spiritually.
These pins are a crucial part of our strategy to share the gospel at the 2025 Deaflympics. We plan to purchase an additional 2,600 to share at the Games.
Thank you for partnering with us in sharing the gospel in Tokyo with the attendees of the Deaflympics.
Please join us in prayer:
Your faithful gifts and prayers help bring the gospel to every nation, tribe, people, and language. We are excited to see how the Lord will reveal Himself to the lost Deaf at the 2025 Deaflympic Games in Tokyo.
