Mission work in Africa has seen tremendous growth over the past few decades, leading to a substantial increase in the number of African believers. God’s Spirit is moving across the continent, and the African church is poised to launch the next great Christian missionary movement. Let’s celebrate this momentous development together, as we recognize the Great Commission is too vast for anyone to accomplish alone, and too important not to do together!
As Southern Baptists, we understand how to prepare and train missionaries for effective cross-culture ministry. Join us in helping propel the East African Baptist churches forward in their embrace of God’s Great Commission.
Your support will significantly impact three key areas:
1. Sustaining a training center in Nairobi where East African missionary candidates can receive the training they need to thrive as effective cross-cultural witnesses.
2. Strengthening sending churches, thereby enabling them to support their missionaries well.
3. Developing partnerships with missionaries currently serving worldwide to identify partnership opportunities for East African missionaries to join them where God is at work among the nations.

Gifts toward specific efforts show us what you are excited about. Occasionally, we may redeploy gifts as we follow God's leading with urgent opportunities or changing international contexts. Any gifts received beyond the goal go toward a similar project or our team support.
2-Week Church Missions Training
Kenyan churches are ready to be mobilized as sending churches for cross-cultural African missionaries, but they need training and guidance. Your gift will host 3 two-week trainings, that will empower 90 missions support staff to cast vision to the churches for mission work, strategize for engaging unreached people groups, and train others in missiology. $300 funds 1 person for the training, with 30 participants per session.
Pastors' Wives and Women-in-Ministry Conferences
As is true around the world, pastors' wives have great responsibility and influence, but minimal training or support. We want to share their burden as well as equip and support them. This year, you can provide 90 pastors' wives training in basic theology, hermeneutics, and vision-casting missional living along with soul-care and encouragement. $70 provides each woman room/board and supplies for a two-day retreat.
5-Week Cross-Cultural Missionary Training
Modeled after the IMB training process, this 5-week residential training program will equip East African missionaries with all they need to thrive and be effective in a cross-cultural ministry. $150 per person per week covers room, board, and training costs, which means $750 will prepare one missionary. Join us in equipping 60 East African missionaries each year, empowering Africans to reach the unreached to the ends of the earth.
Building a Pipeline
Identifying people who sense God's call to serve as cross-cultural missionaries is crucial in this endeavor. Our team will travel to countries around East Africa to cast vision to churches and Baptist conventions to find those whom God is calling. Your gift will provide for travel and vision-casting to three countries we have not yet visited.
Regional M-Task Training
Healthy churches send and support missionaries well. To empower East African churches to grow in health and missions vision, our team will travel to church partners and Baptist conventions around Kenya to vision-cast and lead Healthy Church training and “8-Steps for Sending Churches.” Your gift will provide fuel, food, lodging and training materials for 10 trainings per year. Help us get solid, missional theology to our national Baptist churches.
Exploring God's Call Events
For so long, Christian missionaries came to Africa only from the West. Your gift will enable us to host one-day conferences to explore God's call to cross-cultural missions for African Christians. We pray that these events will help attendees identify if they are sensing a call to missions and recruit new missionaries from among East African believers.
National Support Staff
The success of the training led by IMB personnel will depend on national partners supporting the ministry as housekeepers, groundskeepers and security officers. $10,000 will cover all necessary positions each year. Your gift will provide salaries for these partners, as they make the trainings possible.
Mohammed* needs your prayers!
Many years ago, he moved from his homeland to a rural area of East Africa. He learned the Ao* language, married an Ao woman, and, together, they became believers.
Mohammed began pastoring an Ao church, which has grown as it has faithfully reached out to the community with the gospel.
But Mohammed felt God’s urging to do something more.
Because of your generosity to this project, he attended a Lead Global Training Center conference exploring God’s call on his life.
After praying with his wife, he and his family are preparing to move to an isolated Ao area with no Christians. This community has never allowed any non-Ao person to live in their village.

Our sessions challenged and trained these men and women. They are ready to return to their homes in Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, and Congo to share the gospel and minister.

Ohon* walked faithfully with the Lord, studying Scripture regularly and serving in his church, but he kept wondering if God might be calling him to something more.
Ohon is just one of 50 East African believers who attended the inaugural “Exploring God’s Call Conference” because Christians like you sacrificially gave to this ministry.
The conference was the first hosted at the newly renovated Lead Global Centre, and it was a huge success. It helped East Africans explore God’s call on their lives. Together, they examined both the call and command in Scripture to missions.
Ohon, like many other African believers, came to Christ through the ministry of missionaries. Now, he is beginning to see himself as a missionary.
By studying God’s Word, praying diligently, and seeking the Lord’s leadership, Ohon and 29 other participants concluded the conference, committing to participate in upcoming cross-cultural mission trainings.
