About Team

About Senegal Rural Engagement Strategy Team

Our team works with more than 50 very diverse people groups, from Muslims living in the northern desert to Animists in the southern forests, each with their own language and culture. Their cultural identity is intertwined with religious tradition, and personal identity is tied to relationships. To accept Christ and reject the communally held religious traditions often means being renounced by one’s family and ostracized by the community, which means new believers also lose their sense of identity – all of the cultural, community, and family connections that have made them who they are. The other danger is for seekers to add Jesus to their different beliefs rather than to serve Him only and fully.

Pray for seekers in Senegal to have the strength to choose Jesus above everything. We invite you to join us through prayer and giving as we work with partner churches to bring the gospel to the villages and offer leadership development and pastoral training for national pastors. We use several strategies to make disciples, raise up leaders, and plant churches: follow-up in villages using a discipleship tool called Tree of Life; radio broadcasts of Bible stories across the country; partnership with the Alliance of Baptist Churches to teach Baptist doctrines; and an annual Christian men’s retreat for one region.

God is at work in Senegal, using our team and local believers to glorify His name and transform lives through Christ. We invite you to join us in sowing and reaping in this harvest field!

Support Specific Opportunities

Gifts toward specific efforts show us what you are excited about. Occasionally, we may redeploy gifts as we follow God's leading with urgent opportunities or changing international contexts. Any gifts received beyond the goal go toward a similar project or our team support.

Formation Apollos

Effort Image

We host four pastor trainings each year, teaching local pastors and lay leaders to be biblically faithful in their leadership. Many of our leaders are not literate, so we use oral Bible stories to teach in a way that is easy for them to understand and discuss. We record all lessons onto SD cards so they can listen to and study between sessions. Your gift will equip pastors to shepherd their congregations better and grow strong churches.

National Partners Going to Unreached Areas

Effort Image

Our team cannot possibly reach 16 million people on our own. Our local partners regularly travel into remote villages and new-work areas to preach the gospel and disciple believers. Many of them need help with travel expenses to get them to the places that need the gospel the most. Your generosity with this practical aspect of ministry is literally carrying the gospel into the least-reached places of the globe.

Expanding the Gospel's Reach

Effort Image

As we share the gospel, disciple new believers, nurture churches, and develop leaders, we travel a lot. We want to ensure everyone has access to the good news and the training they need to play their part in building God’s kingdom. Your gift helps fund fuel and public transportation costs for our team’s ministry so that as many people as possible can hear the gospel and learn what it means to follow Jesus faithfully.

Jolaland Ministries

Effort Image

Church Planting is a primary focus for our team. We partner with Senegalese and other Great Commission workers to start healthy local churches. We invite you to come alongside in evangelism, discipleship, leadership training, and many other ministry events to reach the Jolaland with the gospel.

Radio Evangelism

Effort Image

Partner with us to use radio broadcasts to spread the love of Christ throughout our country. We purchase airtime to broadcast Bible stories and testimonies to draw people who want to know more about Jesus. Your gift will fund these broadcasts, training for local believers to do follow-up, and gospel resources to give to seekers. God is changing lives through radio gospel engagement. Join us in this work!

Training Center

Effort Image

We host many of our rural trainings at a property in the center of the country. However, only one house (1600 square feet/three beds, two baths) and a couple of containers are on the property, which is cramped for teaching, housing, and feeding the more-than-thirty participants at a training. Your gift will expand the training center with classrooms, dormitories, and bathroom facilities.
