The Haun Family
William and Heidi Haun keep very busy in Nalerigu, Ghana. William (or “Young White Man’s Chief,” as his Ghanaian friends call him) is a media specialist for the IMB, and is constantly working to find new ways to leverage videography, photography, writing, and design in order to make disciples around the world. Dr. Heidi (also known as “Doctor, You’re Smiling”) is a surgeon at a local Baptist hospital, and is always looking for opportune moments to share the gospel with her patients.

Life in Ghana takes time and requires planning, extreme effort, and teamwork. William and Heidi are constantly on the move, along with their preteen son Trey and their daughter Karen Jane, who was born in Nalerigu.

William homeschools Trey to allow Heidi more time for language study and surgery. When William travels for media assignments, Heidi manages the home front in addition to her medical responsibilities. Yet they have planted their lives there and work hard to become a part of the community with the foremost goal of making disciples.

“It’s not just the humanitarian effort,” Heidi explains, “but sharing the gospel and the best news of all: that Jesus came and died for us.”
