Description

Along the Southwest coast, there is an abundance of beaches, palm trees, and unknown gods being worshipped. Our city is the birthplace of one of the Hindu holy texts and the earliest recorded mosque in South Asia (dating back to the time of Muhammad). While many consider our city reached, the Christian population is mainly prosperity gospel churches and churches that worship Mary, the saints, and has many ties to Hinduism. Our goal is to engage the local church and help them understand the true gospel through meeting with believers and studying the Bible. However, we cannot ignore the millions of lost people that we pass by every day. Doing street evangelism and relationship building is one way that we hope to get into homes so that people can know who Jesus really is. The most common response after hearing the gospel is that these people have never actually heard why Jesus died and who He is. This is a hard soil, and many challenges are involved with serving here, but by God’s grace a small team is in place and will be laboring alongside you. Our city has 62 tribal groups with 0 believers and a Muslim group of over 10 million without a single church. Will you be the light that these people need? Will you provide them with the only hope that we can offer? Instead of asking why you should come, ask why you shouldn’t!

Other Requirements

There is no subsidy for applicants who are not members of a Southern Baptist Church. All monies raised or donated in excess of the stated cost of this particular Residency trip will be used to offset the additional, subsidized field cost expenditure for the student.
