(ben-GAH-lee) – Their population is estimated to be 31,000. They believe that Fatema Bibi (a female saint) once made four palanquin-bearers out of her own body to carry her to her father’s house. Traditionally, this Bengali-speaking people group worked as palanquin-bearers, using poles to lift and carry a person in an enclosed seat, but now most of them work as rickshaw pullers or agricultural laborers. Pray that the Dhawa of India will enjoy real life–eternal life–and that they will know the only true God.
