“Most Chinese residents started arriving in Spain around the 1980s. It is estimated that by 2024, there were 250,000 Chinese in Spain, making them the seventh largest foreign population. More than half own businesses like restaurants, hair and manicure salons, discount stores, or convenience stores. The second generation, born in Spain and graduating from Spanish schools and universities, has been more integrated into Spanish society than the first generation. In many ways, this group also suffers a crisis of identity. They look Chinese, yet they prefer speaking Spanish over Mandarin and are Spanish at heart. In 1986, Chinese believers gathered and started the first Bible study group in Spain. Today, there are more than 30 Chinese evangelical churches all over Spain, and their goal is to start more Chinese churches in areas of Spain where there are no Chinese churches. The churches are developing Spanish language ministries and desire to see second generation Chinese believers involved in cross-cultural missions. In addition to these Chinese residents of Spain, many Chinese foreign exchange students and tourists are here temporarily. Those who encounter the Lord often take His Word back to China. Pray for the salvation of Chinese people in Spain.”
