The number of Israeli Jews who are believers in Jesus has grown tremendously in the past three decades. This April, “Messiah in the Passover” dinners (traditionally called Seder dinners) will be prepared in homes around the country where the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world will be presented in His original context, by believers in Jesus, to their Israeli friends and family. Please pray that God will soften the hearts of those who might be very familiar with the Passover story but are still missing the covering of the blood of the Lamb. Ask that their hearts will be opened to the name of Jesus during this traditional time of soul searching. Another point of this holiday for Jewish people is to eradicate leaven from their homes, as it is a symbol of sin (see Exodus 12:15). This provides a good opportunity to ask people to reflect on the question, “Have you ever had your sins forgiven?” The New Testament references this custom when it says, “Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed” (1 Corinthians 5:7 ESV).
