There are about 3.5 million Alawites in the world, and 85,000 of them live in Lebanon. They speak Arabic. Give thanks to God that the Bible, as well as gospel media, is available in their language! Alawite Islam is an offshoot of the Shia branch of that religion. Like all of Lebanon these days, the Alawites have seen much hardship in their country with the advent of war in the south and up to the city of Beirut. Refugees are fleeing to other parts of Lebanon for safety. Pray for Alawite families who have either lost their homes or are helping others who have lost theirs. Ask that they will have food and shelter and be kept safe. Even more, intercede for their emotional needs. Pray that as they call to God for help, He will answer. Ask that they will hear about His great love for them and that He weeps for them and comforts them. Pray that believers in Jesus will minister to the Alawites. Pray for peace to come to Lebanon.
