(pah-MEER-ees) – The Wide Mountain peoples make up at least seven different people groups speaking at least five distinct languages. These people are spread through the remote mountains of Central Asia, living in valleys and spending much of their lives isolated from most of the rest of the world. While most of them can read and understand at least one trade language, none of them have the Word in their own heart language. As far as is known, every one of these people who has come to faith has done so after a significant encounter with the Word of God. Some were given a Bible, others found one in a library, but each one spent time in the Word before they decided to follow Christ. Pray that the translation of the Bible into the five languages of the Wide Mountain area will move forward quickly and well. Ask the Lord to provide all that’s needed for those who are doing the translating. Pray for the printing and distribution of the Bible in a country where it’s severely limited by the authorities and social pressure. Pray that those who encounter the Word will be changed by it and will faithfully follow the Author of that Word.
