(pun-JAH-bees) – Sarai is a faithful Pakistani follower of Christ and has been for quite some time. In her culture, marriages are arranged by parents, with little or no say in the prospective suitors by those who are having their marriages arranged. The month of December is considered to be the “wedding season” in Pakistan because of its cooler weather and the ease with which people can get time off from their jobs to attend weddings of relatives. Please be praying for women like Sarai who are in arranged marriages to men they don’t love and whose company they don’t enjoy. Desperate situations can make their Christian walk difficult, and being in a loveless marriage with no escape can make the days seem dreary and hopeless. Pray that their faith will remain strong and that they will “not grow weary of doing good” (Galatians 6:9 ESV). Just like the Lord Almighty saw the servant Hagar in the Old Testament in her time of affliction, He sees the desolate situations of so many Pakistani women today. Pray that these women will know the love of Christ and that those who are not yet followers will put their whole hope and faith in Jesus Christ.
