(suh-POHR-oh) – A small group of Japanese women, who are either pastors’ wives or working in ministry outside of the church, gathered at the home of a Sapporo team member in February. There was Valentine’s themed foods and decorations while the sharing of how God had worked, and is working, in their lives brought hearts together in Christian love. Most of the women attending were in their thirties with young children. With those on the Sapporo team being in the same age category, there were many similarities in what they were doing both in the church and in their communities. As young women in ministry roles they could encourage one another in word and deed. One of the women was a Korean pastor’s wife who understands Japanese culture and language very well and shared about her children’s adjustments in Japanese schools. One of the Sapporo team members shared her children’s adjustments a few years back, encouraging this younger woman that her children will be an instrument God uses to bring friends and families to their home! Praise God for times like this that bring unity and a sense of sisterhood.
