Shia of the Desert

“You won’t believe what I saw at the mall today,” Lynette messaged her friends who were living in a city where many Shia of the desert live. “Christmas decorations!” Her friends responded with surprise and delight. In recent years, the government of that Islamic country has become more tolerant, now allowing the sale of Christmas items — something that was strictly prohibited less than a decade ago. Today, it’s not uncommon to see some Shia families decorating their homes with Christmas trees and festive ornaments. Many are drawn to the peaceful and joyful atmosphere that the season brings. A local newspaper even noted that at its core, Christmas is about sharing joy, kindness, and celebration with people of all backgrounds, regardless of nationality or religious beliefs. Please pray that Shia Muslims will come to understand the deeper meaning of Christmas: the birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, who came to bring salvation and hope to all. Ask that believers will have the courage to share this life-changing message with their Shia friends. “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” (2 Corinthians 9:15 NKJV).
