Young Koreans love celebrating dating relationships in many creative ways, such as buying matching shirts, matching shoes, or matching rings. In fact, Koreans are so passionate about dating culture that Valentine’s Day is just one of 14 romance-related “holidays” celebrated each year! Typically, only girls gift their boyfriend with chocolates on Valentine’s Day, while the guys wait one more month to give girls white chocolate on “White Day.” One month later, on April 14, there’s also “Black Day,” where singles gather and eat noodles with black sauce to lament their loneliness. Though this focus on romantic love could be seen as extreme, Christians know that romantic love, specifically marriage, is a shadow of the love of Jesus for His people. Pray that as young adults celebrate human love on Valentine’s and various other special days, they will also discover the much deeper love of Jesus, the true Lover of their souls.
