(TAH-jeeks) – By the start of April, cities in Tajikistan are vibrant. Flowers are planted, colorful clothing arrives, and people spend much more time outside. Children play, outdoor concerts begin, and decorative fountains burst skyward. This year, April also means the conclusion of the Islamic month of Ramadan and the return to regular routines. After a time devoted to attempts at righteousness, some Tajiks may feel especially proud — or others, empty. This time is reminiscent of John 7:37-38 (ESV): “On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, ‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, “Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”‘” Pray that Tajik people will be thirsty for the presence of God. Pray that they will understand the weight of sin, the holiness of God, and their need to be saved. Ask that they will be made alive in Jesus’ name.
