Tuareg of the Sahara Desert

(TWAR-eg) – “We don’t have money for that.” “Our savings are all gone.” As the Islamic month of Ramadan has ended and the days of celebration have concluded, life for the Tuareg has gone somewhat back to normal. They’re exhausted not only because they’re trying to adapt to being diurnal again instead of feasting at night, but also because they’re stressing over finances. Many families are having to pay off the debt they incurred to meet all the social and perceived religious requirements of Ramadan. Among a people for whom resources are already stretched thin and many live day-to-day in the best times of the year, the strain of keeping up is heavy. Please pray that as the Tuareg seek solutions to their financial problems and try to keep their heads above water, their eyes will be open to the truth. Ask that they will seek out the one true God who can meet their needs and who doesn’t ask more of them than they can give.
