Most of you will have seen reports about major developments in Venezuela over the weekend, including the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife by United States military forces. The situation is still unfolding and carries significant implications for the country and the broader region. Though we currently have no International Mission Board personnel living or serving in Venezuela, personnel serving elsewhere among American peoples partner closely with Venezuelan pastors inside the country or serve alongside Venezuelan diaspora communities throughout the Americas. For our brothers and sisters connected to Venezuela, this is a moment filled with hope for the future, uncertainty, fear, and many unanswered questions. Please pray specifically for the protection and safety of all people in Venezuela and for peace and restraint amid instability and transition. Pray also for provision of food and resources for people living in Venezuela; for strength, wisdom, and courage for pastors and church leaders; and for God’s purposes to prevail and His peace to be known.
