Friend turns to Christ and finds hope

A worker in East Asia, Penelope Lockwood*, shares the following story:

“I met Charlotte* a few years ago through an English club and have been praying for her on and off for a couple of years. She has been on my list of non-Christian friends I have prayed for consistently. She was a worshiper of a goddess from India and told me that she could feel the physical presence of this being when she prayed. However, she did not see any hope among the other worshipers, and her life was a mess. She agreed to look at the Bible together with another local friend and me. Each time before she came, I felt a strong sense of anxiety. I asked friends to pray for me. The next time we met, tears suddenly came to her eyes when I shared Romans 8:38: ‘For I am persuaded that not even death or life, angels or rulers, things present or things to come, hostile powers, height or depth, or any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!’ The Holy Spirit moved and prepared her heart to receive Christ that day. Since that day, I have not felt the anxiety. The Lord is changing her family and her face glows with light and hope.”
