Patricia Doyle, an International Mission Board missionary emeritus who shared the gospel in Costa Rica, Guatemala and Mexico, died May 19, 2025. She was 87.
Pat was born Aug. 6, 1937, in Clovis, New Mexico, to the late Jay Slone and Grace Robinson Elliot Slone. She graduated from Portales (New Mexico) High School, received the Bachelor of Arts from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, and attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas.
She married Don Doyle on Aug. 6, 1957. In 1960, they moved to Fort Worth to attend seminary. The following year, Don was called to pastor Quanah Bethel Baptist Chapel in Quanah, Texas. Don commuted to seminary while Pat worked as secretary of First Baptist Church in Quanah.
While seeking missionary appointment Pat recalled coming to faith as child and remembered a “deep-seated desire to follow Christ completely even in those early years.” During the summer when she was 13 years old, she made a public commitment of her life to missions.
In 1964, the International Mission Board appointed Don and Pat missionaries to Costa Rica. They later also served in Guatemala and Mexico.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charles Donald Doyle.
She is survived by her children, Karen Morris; Kathy Tarry (Carl); Susan Nash (Don); Jim Doyle (Kimberly); eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
