Laura Jeanne Walker, an International Mission Board missionary emeritus who shared the gospel in Singapore, died July 30, 2025, in Snellville, Georgia. She was 92.

Jeanne was born March 10, 1933, in Orlando, Florida, to the late Hugh D. and Sammie Belcher Francisco. She graduated from Orlando High School and attended Orlando Junior College.

She married Graham Brown Walker on June 10, 1951. In 1952, Graham was called into military service. After a short time in Atlanta, they were transferred to Chattanooga, Tennessee. While seeking missionary appointment, Jeanne recalled this period as a time when “we began to make Christ Lord of our lives – we really began to want to be obedient to His will for us.” In 1954, they returned home to Orlando and embarked on “the greatest spiritual pilgrimage of our lives – that of finding what God wanted us to be in His plan for the redemption of man.”

In 1959, Jeanne became a member of Woman’s Missionary Union. She wrote that “God began to speak to me as I read and studied missions, listened to missionary programs and took part in missionary projects.”

After attending Foreign Missions Week at Ridgecrest in 1964 and hearing Dr. Baker J. Cauthen speak, Graham and Jeanne contacted the Foreign Mission Board (now International Mission Board). While seeking appointment she wrote, “After praying about it very earnestly, I feel convicted that God wishes me to offer myself as a missionary. … With each day this conviction is more sure.”

In 1969, the International Mission Board appointed Graham and Jeanne missionaries to Singapore. Her family remembered her for her work there establishing church nurseries and preschool programs, teaching English, founding the Great Joy Media Centre, and producing the Chinese language film series “Blessed Family.” She also established an English-language program for nursing students from China.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Graham Brown Walker.

She is survived by her children, Graham Brown Walker Jr. (Mimi) of Atlanta, Laura Susan Walker (Carol) of Birmingham, Alabama, David Marshall Walker (Susan) of Montgomery, Alabama, and Amy Walker Coleman (Jim) of Chattanooga; her sisters, Judith Francisco Dwyer (Tim) of Tennessee and Katherine Francisco Tosh (Fred) of Georgia; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Nov. 22 at The Church at Ponce and Highland in Atlanta.
