The Konongo people are mostly Catholic and Moravian, but they have no indigenous Konongo church. The Moravian church has had a long-standing work in their area that stretches back some 50 years. However, syncretism is prevalent. Mixing animism and Christianity is quite common in the region where the Konongo live. Alcoholism is also pervasive.
Be still O [Konongo people] and know that Yahweh is God. He will be exalted among you. … The earth is the Lord’s with its fullness; the world and the [Konongo] who dwell therein. … Arise, God, judge the [Konongo], for you inherit all of the nations. (Psalm 46:10; 24:1; 82:8)
