About This Project
Some UPGs in Southeast Asia live in poverty, both physically and spiritually, cut off from basic needs like clean water, sanitation and also from a gospel witness. This project will open doors to these formerly inaccessible communities by addressing felt needs and sharing the good news. Your gift to this project will provide the resources needed for national believers to enter these areas and drill water wells, provide water filtration systems, build sanitary toilets and make disciples.
Imagine the shame of always having to go out of your house to relieve yourself in the early morning twilight or the evening dusk because there are no toilets except the great outdoors. Think of the real fear of a python or cobra coming upon you in this vulnerable situation. Consider the burden of having to hike long distances to bathe and wash clothes in an open place and then the difficulty of hauling water back to your house for cooking and cleaning. The peoples living in this part of the Philippines encounter these challenges daily.
Civil conflict in these areas of Mindanao has, for decades, created barriers between people groups of different religious backgrounds and built walls of fear and separation. These ethnic tensions have caused marginalization and kept away development efforts that would improve living conditions. In countless villages, people have lived the same way for generations.
By addressing the physical needs identified by community residents, an IMB team and national believers in this area can tangibly show Christ’s love, share the gospel and make disciples. Give today to help alleviate impoverished conditions and help new believers to be a light in what was previously unpenetrated darkness.
Why direct giving matters
Giving directly to a missionary team helps fund the specific, on-the-ground needs your missionaries care deeply about—needs that aren't covered by CP and LMCO alone.
Thank you so much for your generosity to this ministry and the Filipino people God calls us to reach with the gospel. Your prayers and sacrificial giving provide the necessary resources for national believers to enter remote areas of the Southern Philippines, drill water wells, provide water filtration systems, build sanitary toilets, and make disciples.
Opportunities Abound. God calls us to go into unreached and difficult-to-penetrate areas to meet needs in Jesus’ name. As a result of your generosity, our national partners with a heart to obey the Great Commission have a tangible way to fulfill that calling, providing sanitary, life-giving water to those who need it. At the same time, this project is also helping local churches become involved in cross-cultural ministry.
Hope Delivered. The communities impacted by these efforts are typically closed to gospel proclamation. But, by partnering with you, this project has made it possible to communicate the Good News while meeting needs in villages. It opens doors to show Christ’s love and creates opportunities to help people understand the way of salvation.
People who previously (every single day) had to go out and try to find a place to relieve themselves now have the privacy of sanitary toilets at their homes. Communities living with the stench and contamination of human waste scattered on the ground now have water-sealed septic tanks. The odor and mess are gone, and the contamination causing disease is also gone. People who had to drink water from whatever shallow source was available now have water wells and filtration systems to help protect their families from intestinal diseases that can be life-threatening. Previously, villagers washed children’s clothes in contaminated water and bathed from unclean sources, causing rashes and skin diseases. Now they enjoy clean and healthy skin just by eliminating the irritants in their water sources. For others, money they previously had to spend to buy clean water can now be used for other essential family needs. And instead of carrying laundry and dishes long distances to a water source and then carrying water back to their houses, they now have a well nearby, with easy access to abundant water. The love of Christ has been demonstrated through meeting these basic physical needs. Still, even more importantly, people have come to know Jesus and experience the forgiveness and fullness of life He alone can give. Thank you so much for bringing life to these needy areas.
Thank you for your generosity and prayers. Your sacrificial gifts and intercession are truly transforming lives as we partner together to solve the world’s greatest problem, lostness.
In the next five years, a globalization goal of all IMB workers is to mobilize 500 local believers to become global missionary partners serving on IMB teams.
