Schools for Syrian Refugee Children

Provide quality education for displaced Syrian and Iraqi children who have missed critical years of their education development.
As the crises and struggles in Syria and Iraq continue, the needs of displaced Syrians and Iraqis become more urgent. Currently, the most significant felt-need of Syrian and Iraqi families is a lack of education for their children. This issue offers an unprecedented opportunity to reach families with the gospel. Tens of thousands of families have been forced to leave their homes and even country because of the massive destruction from civil wars, terrorism, and political corruption, natural disaster, and instability. There are limited schools for displaced and refugee children, and parents fear their children will have no future without an education. Your gift will ensure these children receive the supplemental education that they desperately need and desire. It will also enable the families to hear the good news and experience the love of Jesus Christ as we follow up with these families in their homes. In addition, your support will provide school supplies, materials, meals, building rent and utilities, transportation, and salaries for teachers and bus drivers.

Along with education, students receive seasonal clothing, and families benefit from food aid and winter aid when extra blankets and heat are needed. Volunteers can help train teachers and work with the educational programs. Counselors for children and their families are also urgently needed. Most of the children suffer from degrees of PTSD and need to talk to a native-Arabic speaker trained in these issues.

This ministry opportunity protects childhood, fights ignorance, and provides children with essential life skills needed not only for their futures but also to rebuild Syria and Iraq. In addition, an education approach helps meet the physical and the spiritual needs of everyone in a refugee and displaced family. Join us in meeting these critical needs and sharing the love of Christ tangibly during this unprecedented window of spiritual openness.

Location

North African and Middle Eastern Peoples

North Africa and the Middle East is consistently thrust into the international news as it develops into one of the world’s most enigmatic-but-influential global regions. Vast economic development typifies its urban centers, offering creative business opportunities for entrepreneurs.

Religious life permeates every society here, whether its residents are Muslim, Christian, or Jewish. Though Christianity began in this cradle of civilization, it is sometimes difficult to know if the church exists. Cities that birthed the gospel now house ornate mosques, temples, and skyscrapers. Thankfully, the church is experiencing a captivating resurgence among this region's 520 unengaged and unreached people groups.

Millions of refugees live here, displaced by war, famine, oppression, or poverty. Many are open to the gospel, seeking an anchor amid the upheaval of their lives. Pray for Christian workers as they share the hope of the gospel during this unprecedented spiritual openness.
