Your gift will assist bi-vocational pastors in starting small businesses, minister to women trapped or engaged in the sex trade, and reach out to the refugees who are flooding into Kampala from other countries.
Pastors here are bi-vocational because the culture does not provide for full-time pastors. Our team is piloting a project with a local pastor to help him start a motorcycle garage to provide for his family and maximize his commitment to his congregation. Your gift will be part of the capital he needs to purchase an adequate supply of motorcycle parts. A good collection of parts will attract mechanics to partner with him, making the garage both a selling and repairing location for the community. The faith-based business will be a light in the community for sharing Christ and offering necessary services! Success with this initial garage will create a model that we can replicate throughout Kampala.
Another vital ministry is reaching women in Kampala trapped in sex trafficking. Approximately 15,000 women in Kampala are trafficked each year, and 15% (2,250 individuals) of those women are in our ministry target area. With the help of national partners, our team will offer Christ-centered Bible stories to the women to show them that Jesus offers daily hope and eternal life. In addition, as women leave the sex trade, we desire to train them in alternative job skills to include tailoring, hair styling and cooking. A long-term goal is to have a women’s center.
Your partnership will also offer public health clinics for these women. Many struggle with sexually transmitted diseases, malaria and other curable health problems. Your gift will enable our team to provide these women with the care and knowledge they need to heal their bodies while sharing the love of Christ, which will heal their souls. Together, we can offer them hope and a future.
Our team’s third emphasis is outreach to refugees. Our refugee small business outreach enables the gospel to be shared among refugee groups and provides discipleship opportunities. These discipled refugees can then be sent as missionaries back to their people groups in Kampala and their home nation. This business outreach opportunity has the potential to truly change the community as Christ-centered businesses shine brightly in dark communities.

White Stone Ministry

Kampala Baptist Association Leader Training
Each month the Kampala Baptist Association gathers for a monthly planning meeting and time of encouragement. Our IMB team will capitalize on this monthly occurrence and offer Healthy Church Leadership training for the gathered pastors. For $72 each month, lunch can be provided for 25 pastors at the conclusion of the meeting and leader training.
Gospel Fluency
Revelation 7:9 says there will be a multitude worshipping the Lord from every language. Our team is studying the language of our people to fluently share the good news in their heart language. Your gift helps fund language study so we can effectively communicate the gospel and train believers.
Motorcycle Parts Store
Your gift will help pastors own and run a motorcycle parts store as a daily outreach to unbelieving male motorcycle drivers. Your partnership will enable these committed, full-time pastors to become effective "tentmakers" and help bi-vocational pastors provide for their families, pursue church health with their current congregation, and engage in church planting as they reach out to the lost community.
Trauma Healing Groups
Refugees and marginalized peoples move to the big city of Kampala, looking for hope. Many have suffered trauma, so our team uses New Hope Trauma Healing to help people heal emotionally and mentally. While they learn about hope in Christ, they also learn to lead this program in their communities. Your gift provides an opportunity for our team to walk 6 to 8 people through the program and then offer the program in their community.
Expanding the Gospel’s Reach
As we share the gospel, disciple new believers, nurture churches, and develop leaders, we travel a lot. We want to ensure everyone has access to the good news and the training they need to play their part in building God’s kingdom. Your gift helps fund fuel and public transportation costs for our team’s ministry so that as many people as possible can hear the gospel and learn what it means to follow Jesus faithfully.
Pastors’ gatherings develop healthy churches. Thanks so much for your support of our monthly pastors’ breakfast meetings. Participation each month has been strong, with an average of 20 to 25 pastors at each gathering. By God’s grace and with your partnership, we have used Healthy Church Leadership training throughout this year and held training events on biblical worship, biblical prayer, biblical fellowship, and biblical preaching and teaching. In addition, we have more trainings scheduled for the remainder of the year. This training has given us the confidence to launch four training centers for the Kampala Baptist churches. We have identified two trainers for each of the four training centers and are mentoring them so they can offer training to other pastors.
Short-term training leads to long-term training. Just as physical exercise makes us stronger and often leads to more exercise, spiritual training tends to lead to more training within a group. In August 2023, 15 pastors completed a nine-month training course in church health and planting. We used material from an association of Baptist churches in the US, and pastors received lessons each week and then met monthly to discuss the training. Our goal in these sessions was for pastors to implement the knowledge they gained. Pastors learned a great deal from these times of equipping. One pastor stated, “I now have vision!” While another pastor commented how he now understands there are stages of spiritual growth for people in the congregation. Your generous giving provides these monthly training breakfast meetings, leading to more training opportunities throughout Kampala.
