Carolyn Jackson, an International Mission Board missionary emeritus who shared the gospel in Trinidad and Tobago, died Feb. 23, 2025, in Chapin, South Carolina. She was 95.

Carolyn was born June 24, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Carl and Gertrude Pitman. She graduated from North Fulton High School and attended Shorter College (now Shorter University) in Rome, Georgia.

She married Clarence Jackson on Sept. 17, 1955. Upon his graduation from seminary in 1961, they moved to Michigan to pastor a church. While there, they began to sense God’s call to foreign missions. They moved several times over the next two decades, following God’s leading to pastor churches in North Carolina and Virginia.

When they sought missionary appointment in their mid-50s Carolyn wrote, “Through the years God’s leading in our lives has been very definite. I believe God is now leading me to missions overseas. If this is God’s will, I am ready to go. If not, I am sure he will lead me to my next place of service.”

In 1983, the International Mission Board appointed Clarence and Carolyn missionaries to Trinidad and Tobago, where they served until 1995.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Rev. Clarence B. Jackson, and a daughter, Susan Jackson.

She is survived by her sons, Glenn C. Jackson of Austin, Texas, David W. Jackson (Rosemarie Magnani) of Newton Centre, Massachusetts, and Steven A. Jackson (Randa Vegas) of Irmo, South Carolina; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

A graveside service was held March 1 at the Brinson (Georgia) Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Lottie Moon Offering, IMB, 3806 Monument Avenue, Richmond, VA 23230, or online at Generosity Resource Center – IMB Generosity.
