Jenny Rossetter Musen, an International Mission Board missionary emeritus who shared the gospel in Kenya, died April 5, 2026. She was 86.
Jenny was born March 11, 1940, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to the late Dannie Rossetter and Jeanette Rossetter. She graduated from North Warren High School in Smiths Grove, Kentucky, and received the Bachelor of Arts from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green.
Jenny married Jim Musen on Dec. 23, 1961. She worked as a substitute teacher for the Glasglow (Kentucky) Public Schools and as a high school English teacher at Hiseville (Kentucky) High School.
While seeking missionary appointment she wrote about her call to missions during college, “In the spring of 1961 Dr. Bossom, retired missionary from China, was at our Baptist Student Union for a mission study. The Lord used his testimony to show me that He was leading me into the field of missions. I believe the Lord led Jim and me together to serve Him through missions. As we prayed and talked together, we felt that it was God’s will that we serve Him together.”
In 1968, the International Mission Board appointed Jim and Jenny missionaries to Kenya.
Jenny was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James D. Musen.
She is survived by her children, Steve Musen (Denise), Don Musen (Luzette), and Holly Ǫueener (Kenny); six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held in May at Smiths Grove Cemetery, with details to be announced later.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Lottie Moon Offering, IMB, 3806 Monument Avenue, Richmond, VA 23230, or online at Generosity Resource Center – IMB Generosity.
