Bob Hunt, an International Mission Board missionary emeritus who shared the gospel in Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore, India and Australia, died Dec. 19, 2025. He was 92.

Bob was born Oct. 15, 1933, in Albertville, Alabama, to the late Carl and Ora Hunt. He graduated from Albertville High School and received the Bachelor of Arts from Howard College (now Samford University) Birmingham, Alabama, and the Master of Divinity from New Orleans (Louisiana) Baptist Theological Seminary.

During his first year of seminary, a small church in Mississippi called Bob to be their pastor. He also worked in the seminary library. On Dec. 27, 1957, he married Rosalie Hall. They accepted a call to pastor at Hebron Baptist Church, near Meridian, Mississippi, in April of 1958. In the fall of 1959, they began working in student ministry when Bob became director of the Baptist Student Union at Northeast Mississippi Junior College in Booneville. On weekends and summers, he continued to preach for revivals and summer assemblies.

While seeking missionary appointment Bob wrote, “Although we realize the need and challenge here, we have still been impatient to be on the foreign field, where we feel the need to be so acute. We long to be there to be of service, to become a part of the work. It is our prayer that God will use us to the utmost, that our lives will count in His service.”

In 1961, the International Mission Board appointed Bob and Rosalie missionaries to Taiwan. Over the course of almost 30 years of service, they also worked in several other countries, including Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore, India and Australia.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rosalie Hunt, his daughter Alice, his son Jody (Lori), five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Dec. 22 at First Baptist Church in Guntersville, Alabama.
