Overview

The Macedonia Project is built for people who sense an urgent, long-term call to the mission field but still need theological training to get there. Rather than choosing between the classroom and the field, Macedonia missionaries do both at once. Participants serve up to 4 years on an IMB church planting team overseas while completing seminary coursework through a participating Southern Baptist seminary. After returning to the U.S. to finish their degree, supported by a continuing stipend, they become eligible to apply for career missionary appointment. It is a pathway designed to eliminate the wait and get the right people to the right places as soon as possible.

Why This Pathway?

  • Get to the field now without waiting to finish seminary first
  • Serve as a fully funded member of an IMB church planting team for 3–4 years
  • Earn a master of arts degree through a participating Southern Baptist seminary while serving overseas
  • Receive a tuition scholarship covering half the cost of your degree, with the seminary covering the other half. Note that books and additional expenses are not included.
  • Return home with a degree, field experience, and a direct path to career missionary appointment
  • Open to recent graduates and mid-career professionals alike, with no upper age limit

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as an active member of an IMB church planting team in an international setting
  • Evangelize among the lost and disciple new believers in your community
  • Complete one seminary course per semester through a participating Southern Baptist seminary while on the field
  • Return to the U.S. after your field term to complete your degree on campus, supported by a financial stipend
  • Apply for career missionary appointment after successfully completing the program
