About This Project
In the last 25 years, Cuba has experienced a spiritual awakening that has produced God-sized results. Thousands of people have professed faith in Christ, thousands of new house churches have been planted, and a new generation of home missionaries has been sent out to reach Cuba for Christ. Many Cuban believers sense God leading them to go to the unreached of the world with Christ’s message. Your gift will provide support for Cuban missionary families to reach the nations for Christ.
In previous decades, Cubans could not dream of leaving the island, yet still they desired full participation in Christ’s command to make disciples to the ends of the earth. In the last three years, God has opened the door for Cuban missionaries to go to the nations.
Many qualified missionaries are responding to God’s call and are being trained to go. Cuban churches, conventions, mission agencies and generous believers are helping sacrificially in this process, but resources are not sufficient to send and sustain long-term workers. In Cuba, an average salary is approximately $25 a month, so Cuban churches would need the equivalent of sixty annual salaries to support just one missionary family.
Cuban Baptists are asking God for partners who will join them in sending five new missionary families per year until twenty-five Cuban families are sharing the gospel with those who have never heard. Your generous gift to this vital project will facilitate training and sending experienced workers to join in God’s harvest in Latin America and beyond to areas of the world that restrict American access but are completely open to Cuban nationals.
Why direct giving matters
Giving directly to a missionary team helps fund the specific, on-the-ground needs your missionaries care deeply about—needs that aren't covered by CP and LMCO alone.
Thank you so much for your generous support! Your gifts and prayers combine with those of local Cuban Baptist churches to facilitate training and sending experienced Christian workers into God’s harvest in Latin America. They are also able to go beyond the Americas to areas worldwide that are restricted to American access but completely open to Cuban nationals. Here are some updates from Cuban missionaries you helped send:
Circle of Silence. For 17 months, a missionary couple has been in a part of the Americas that has very hard soil and no evangelical work. Yet, despite experiencing much rejection, God has given them fruit. They have baptized two believers and are preparing another for baptism in this month. In addition, they have already planted a church, which meets in their home with 13 people participating in the worship.
This couple has entered three communities with the gospel and seen 20 people make decisions for Christ. More than 550 people have heard the good news in these communities. Recently, God opened an incredible door for them. Staff at three substance-abuse rehabilitation centers invited them to work in the centers. Sixty-seven men attended their first meeting!
Work with Refugees. Hector, another Cuban missionary, is serving among refugees in Uganda. He rejoices in the work God is doing there. During these first two years in Africa, he and his team have reached six communities with the gospel and led 246 people to Christ. Forty-three people have been baptized, and Hector leads seven discipleship groups. He is also training two groups of 20 leaders who minister alongside him and have started two house churches.
Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and partnership! Your prayer and gifts are spreading the gospel through Cuban missionaries!
Hector Cabrera is a global missionary partner who works closely with International Mission Board teams in Uganda. He was sent by the missions agency Cuba to the Nations. READ MORE!
You have been a part of the fulfillment of a vision God gave to His church in Cuba. Having seen a mighty movement of God over the last 30 years, Cuban Christians are eager to participate in the Great Commission; however, they know they cannot do it alone. Though the Cuban economic situation is deteriorating, Cubans continue to pray that others will partner with them in sending Cuban missionaries to carry the gospel to the nations.
Muchas gracias for your sacrificial generosity! Here is some of what God has done through your obedient giving.
Two more will be sent to join an IMB team in South Asia by the end of this year for a total of 13 toward our goal of 25!
FRUIT:
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Eph. 3:20-21). Praise the Lord that our team has seen the following fruit:
• 35 indigenous communities have been contacted with the gospel.
• 5 communities of refugees in Africa have been reached with the gospel.
• 2 churches have been planted among Indigenous groups.
• 15 groups are meeting for worship and discipleship.
• 185 people have made decisions for Christ.
• 69 have been baptized.
Rejoice with us as we celebrate what God has done through your prayers and financial gifts.
Cubans hope to reach their goal of 25 missionaries sharing the gospel with unreached people by 2025. God has called them to go, and God is using you to help send them. Please receive our gratitude and that of our Cuban brothers and sisters.
In the next five years, a globalization goal of all IMB workers is to mobilize 500 local believers to become global missionary partners serving on IMB teams.
