Some UPGs in Southeast Asia live in poverty, both physically and spiritually, cut off from basic needs like clean water, sanitation and also from a gospel witness. This project will open doors to these formerly inaccessible communities by addressing felt needs and sharing the good news. Your gift to this project will provide the resources needed for national believers to enter these areas and drill water wells, provide water filtration systems, build sanitary toilets and make disciples.
Imagine the shame of always having to go out of your house to relieve yourself in the early morning twilight or the evening dusk because there are no toilets except the great outdoors. Think of the real fear of a python or cobra coming upon you in this vulnerable situation. Consider the burden of having to hike long distances to bathe and wash clothes in an open place and then the difficulty of hauling water back to your house for cooking and cleaning. The peoples living in this part of the Philippines encounter these challenges daily.
Civil conflict in these areas of Mindanao has, for decades, created barriers between people groups of different religious backgrounds and built walls of fear and separation. These ethnic tensions have caused marginalization and kept away development efforts that would improve living conditions. In countless villages, people have lived the same way for generations.
By addressing the physical needs identified by community residents, an IMB team and national believers in this area can tangibly show Christ’s love, share the gospel and make disciples. Give today to help alleviate impoverished conditions and help new believers to be a light in what was previously unpenetrated darkness.
From the skyscrapers of Hong Kong and vast plains of Mongolia to smoky rainforests hiding winding rivers edged by golden sands, the natural beauty and long history of these Asia-Pacific Rim countries testify to God’s creative hand. This vast region houses four of the most populous global cities, as well as the country with the world's largest nominal population of Muslims.
Spirituality swirls through cities and countryside like the smoke from temple incense sticks. Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, animists, Daoists and ancestor worshipers live here, comprising 851 unreached people groups who have never heard that freedom is found in Christ. Pray for divine appointments for Christian workers to share that Jesus is the way to peace with God and eternal life. Ask God to glorify His name among the peoples of the Asian Pacific Rim Peoples affinity.
